Quality over Quantity in ITT professional development

Two Mile Ash case study

The Two Mile Ash ITT partnership, part of the Inspiring Futures through Learning MAT, set up in 2002 is the most established primary training provider in Milton Keynes. It serves 25 partner schools, which in turn provide placements and support, and has trained some 400 primary teachers for the local area, all achieving excellent outcomes and many rated as outstanding by the end of their training year.

Two Mile Ash ITT has achieved 100% employment rates for graduates, is rated “outstanding “ by OFSTED, and is listed in the top 10 providers in the Good Teacher Training Guide in recent years.

The Challenge:

Old paper-based evidence portfolios were increasingly inefficient and made it impossible to properly monitor trainee progress in real-time. Two Mile Ash was behind the curve for online ITT and needed more effective monitoring to provide better support.

The solution:

BlueSky Education was recommended and head of ITT Rachel Coulson chose it as the best fit on a “suck it and see” approach, working closely with the supplier and ironing out any issues as they arose in ongoing review and adapt process.

How did BlueSky help?

“BlueSky has been a massive help with all our original objectives. We used to have to wait for SBT and trainee meeting days to conduct reviews, but now we have full access remotely at any time.

“We can be confident of the support we are providing through lesson observation forms, our Pastoral Leads can monitor trainee wellbeing as they need it, and collaborative online working brings the full team together for time- effective and delivered results.

“ I can’t imagine how we managed before. Evidence and trainee engagement support is transformed”
