Andy has more than two decades of experience in financial and operational leadership, including over 15 years with KPMG and PwC in audit and transactions, which provided him with significant expertise in business strategy, commercial operations, financial management, business transformation and people management across a range of industries.
A long-standing interest in the importance and potential of learning led him to specialise in the provision of financial, commercial and operational expertise to the education sector. He is currently COO and CFO for Challenger Multi-Academy Trust, a growing group of schools across Bedfordshire and Essex. Prior to joining CMAT, he was European CFO for GEMS Education, where he drove a major programme of cost rationalisation, restructuring and process improvement for the European K12 schools and consultancy, skills and online businesses, and was a key contributor to development of its service lines and geographical footprint. Additionally, he was Finance Director for charitable trust, the Varkey Foundation, and GEMS Learning Trust, which opened its first Academy School in 2015.
Previous to GEMS, Andy was Director of EMEA Finance for global education pathway provider, Into University Partnerships, where he was heavily involved in the development and structuring of relationships with partners, and provided expertise to the Board on all financial and commercial matters.
Andy has been Chairman of the Parents’ Association at his daughters’ school since 2010, where he enjoys supporting an active group of parents who fundraise for the local community and the school. An active tennis player, he regularly supports causes close to his heart, including Prostate Cancer, Save the Children and Diabetes UK.
